Научись онтокритике, чтобы перенаучиться жить

Неграмотными в 21-м веке будут не те, кто не могут читать и писать, а те, кто не смогут научаться, от(раз)учаться и перенаучаться. Элвин Тоффлер

how many of you guys know who I am or
0:16
have seen a video with me before okay
0:22
not bad like 99% of you have no idea who
0:25
I am
0:28
great great a common theme between the
0:33
speakers that are taking the stage today
0:35
is that we are looking to break through
0:38
in order to break through
Breaking Through
0:41
we need attention we need followers
0:44
breaking through is really important
0:47
breaking through means that our idea is
0:51
spreading from an individual to the
0:55
community and then to the world the
1:02
world has seven and a half billion
1:04
people right now each one of those
1:07
people has about 16 waking hours of
1:11
attention every single day that means
1:15
there's a hundred and twenty billion
1:17
waking hours of human attention every
1:21
single day collectively on this planet
1:26
attention is the most valuable commodity
1:32
this is why media companies have been at
1:36
a war for our attention over the last
1:39
decade and right now I'm with you you're
1:46
with me we're giving each other our
1:47
attention and TEDx has given us speakers
1:51
a platform to aim to disseminate our
1:53
ideas to you and us curious
1:56
intellectuals are here today learning
Asking Questions
2:05
it's really important that we embody
2:08
asking questions this is a technology
2:12
this is a science this is an art this is
2:15
a tool this is a muscle that needs to be
2:18
trained the attention cake is limited to
2:23
those hundred and twenty billion hours
2:24
and we're all trying to get more and
2:27
more of the cake so if we can figure out
2:30
how to shatter through surface level
2:32
conversation and get to the depths of
2:34
the soul we can amplify our ability to
2:36
break through so I interview people four
2:41
years ago I left the comfortability of a
2:43
nine-to-five job so that I could ask
2:46
random people on the streets
2:48
thought-provoking questions if you had
2:50
the opportunity to spread one message to
2:53
the world what would it be just be good
2:57
to each other for crying out loud be
3:02
good to animals be good to people
3:05
appreciate what we have share what we
3:08
have with people that don't have enough
3:10
and we would get wisdoms like this
3:12
practice sharing what we have with
3:14
people who don't have enough now today
3:18
we've have interviewed — we've
3:21
interviewed 200 people in the last nine
3:23
months different diverse global leaders
3:25
on our show and we're able to give
3:29
really powerful wisdoms from them about
3:31
the future of humanity and solving some
3:33
of our most pressing challenges there is
3:34
no nobler purpose for technology than to
3:38
bring peace to the mind of mankind but
3:40
it's not just via robot so you can put a
3:42
gun on a drone we're getting some
3:45
confidence in blockchain security which
3:47
is exciting
3:48
quantum programming is kind of like a
3:50
whole other branch when you do humanize
3:53
other people you do humanize yourself a
3:54
lot of stuff happening in these cells
3:57
they're actually manufacturing thousands
3:59
of different proteins a common thread
4:02
between them is similarly we're trying
4:06
to break through trying to get just one
4:08
more follower entrepreneurship is one of
4:11
the most meaningful journeys that we'll
4:12
go through in our lives but it's also
4:14
one of the most stressful and so we go
4:18
through a process of sacrificing
4:21
absolutely everything scrapping with
4:23
money being completely unstable just so
4:26
that we can actualize a vision into the
4:28
world when I see football stadiums or
4:31
sports stadiums filled with 50,000
4:34
people watching a sporting event or
4:36
music event I realized that 90% of the
4:38
time those stadiums are unused that's
4:42
why my vision is to fill those sports
4:44
stadiums with curious intellectuals
4:46
thousands of them for full day
4:48
multidisciplinary events fight
4:52
thought-provoking fireside chats debates
4:54
comedy skits group meditations and
4:57
actualizing that vision takes really
5:00
hard work in time and in order to get
5:04
there I've learned that cutting through
5:06
surface level conversation with powerful
5:08
questions is really important in that
Powerful Questions
5:11
journey of getting more attention
5:12
getting more followers I am absolutely
5:15
obsessed with powerful questions
5:18
so take a look at some of these real
5:20
quick these are some of my favorite ones
5:22
I love asking people what is time what
5:26
is consciousness what is courage who's
5:31
gonna teach a ifx what do we do about
5:35
wealth and equality how do we modernize
5:39
politics these are just some of the
5:43
really powerful questions and there's a
5:45
really good metaphor for powerful
5:47
questions metaphor is a submarine and
5:52
when we're chilling at the surface level
5:55
the water pressure is weak it's easy for
5:58
us to be like how are you the weather is
6:00
nice out isn't it yeah so these sort of
6:04
like mundane sort of conversations when
6:06
we go a little deeper and we ask
6:08
questions maybe like what are you
6:09
passionate about we get into the depths
6:13
we're getting there it's getting a
6:14
little bit more uncomfortable it's
6:16
getting harder and harder for us to deal
6:18
with the water pressure but at the same
6:19
time we're gaining more and more insight
6:22
and then when we get to the deepest
6:24
steps of the human psyche and the soul
6:26
we ask questions like what are your core
6:28
values and questions like that again
6:31
it's a really deep and dark and scary
6:33
down there but it actualizes us the most
6:36
it gives us the greatest understanding
6:38
of the human soul questions enable us to
6:41
probe reality I want to talk about the
6:47
art and strategy of getting to become a
Art Strategy
6:50
really good question asker some of these
6:52
important pillars emotional intelligence
6:56
this is being warm this is being kind
6:59
this is giving really good eye contact
7:01
giving that true love and care even
7:03
though someone's opinion may contradict
7:05
yours this is also this is a silencing
7:08
after you ask someone a question being
7:10
calm giving them that space next is
7:15
syntax syntax is really important
7:18
because you can bias people's questions
7:21
you can ask them did you have fun at
7:22
TEDx or you can ask them how was TEDx
7:25
one biases them towards fun the other
7:27
one will give you generic response but
7:29
if you ask them what did you find most
7:31
valuable at Ted
7:32
you'll likely elicit a pretty
7:34
interesting response but again biased
7:36
towards value this is probably one of
7:39
the most important ones that is
7:41
permeating through society incredibly
7:44
fast right now the binary trap people
7:46
are either black or white on so many
7:49
issues but so much of what we see is not
7:51
black and white
7:54
cognitive ease and tribalism and
7:56
echo-chamber separate us this way but
7:58
really we see things as a spectrum our
8:01
perception is multivariate it's nuanced
8:04
and we stay calm and curious in a
8:06
quantum Ahsan having conversations with
8:08
people take an example like immigration
8:10
most people are pro or against
8:12
immigration but if you find the multi
8:14
variability the nuance you can find a
8:16
cool position like being as oenophile
8:18
pragmatist that means that you love
8:21
foreign cultures but that you want to be
8:24
pragmatic at the borders steel versus
8:27
straw Manning when you when you straw
8:30
man someone it means that you take their
8:32
argument and you make it as you
8:33
misrepresent her to make it as easy to
8:35
defeat as possible when you steal man
8:37
someone's argument it means that you
8:39
make their argument even better this way
8:42
you show them that you actually care
8:43
about what they're saying and if you
8:45
disagree then it makes it potentially
8:47
easier for you to augment their
8:49
perspective
8:50
lastly getting to their heart I love
8:53
asking deep questions like what's the
8:55
deepest emotion you've ever felt or
8:57
what's the most beautiful thing in the
8:59
world or how do you maximize your
9:01
potential reciprocation is a crucial
9:05
process in this analyzed really
9:07
carefully and closely if the other
9:09
person is truly reciprocating and also
9:12
if you're reciprocating back by asking
9:14
questions breaking through requires
9:18
powerful questions it's so important
9:21
because that's how we get attention
9:22
that's how we get more followers we ask
9:25
these powerful questions and we get to
9:27
our breakthrough you're all about to go
9:30
out for a break ask a challenging
9:34
question to someone else that you're
9:35
talking to get used to asking
9:37
challenging questions work out this
9:40
muscle of questions with your family
9:42
with your friends on social media with
9:44
your coworker
9:45
get into a habit of becoming a powerful
9:47
question asker and ask yourself these
9:50
questions look in the mirror and ask
9:51
them to yourself as you scan the depths
9:57
of the human psyche and you analyze and
10:00
you get really good at it
10:01
we'll also gain a bird's eye perspective
10:04
as a blimp we'll be able to see the
10:08
terrain see the evolution of humanity
10:10
see how humans connect how we
10:12
communicate the deepest emotions and
10:15
feelings and energies that exist out
10:18
there ask powerful questions and get to
10:20
your breakthrough thank you
